Medicare will pay for skilled care SERVICES and Therapy services for their recipients. Medicare will only cover services for a short period of time. Medicare will cover for a maximum of 100 days, a Short-Term Care time in a skilled nursing home, or also called Rehab, or Rehabilitation center for someone who needs special care or skilled care after leaving a hospital. Medicare is a federal benefit. So, Medicare will give you services and care for a short period of time but not for Long Term Care. When thinking about costs and what is covered by Medicare in a Short term stay, keep in mind that there can be extra, out of pocket charges for supplies, personal care; like hair appointments, laundry, and services that are outside routine care. Nonetheless, there are many programs under Medicaid that do reimburse for personal care services received in an assisted living facility. Room and Board is not covered by Medicaid Managed Long Term Care Program. The eligible Floridians may have their personal care services, such as assistance with activities of daily living, reimbursed under Florida’s Medicaid Long – Term Care Waiver program. It’s imperative to note that ALL Florida residents aren’t entitled to receive funding from the Medicaid Managed Long Term Care Program, and the number of participants under this benefit program is limited – you may be put on a wait list and you MUST qualify financially and clinically to receive the benefits.
