This book is an evaluation of an individual that has just come out of a relationship healing process. That individual is me. Or, it could be you. As you heal, you ask yourself, “How come I didn’t see this before?” Maybe now you realize that must be changed for the sole purpose of achieving peace of mind, happiness, or even some sort of freedom and independency in your life. Emotional Dependency can occur in many types of relationships, not just in a romantic, love relationship. Emotional relationships include children with their parents, parents with their children, co-workers or any situation that is causing you to be dependent. If you do not find your ‘true self,’ and become true to your feelings, nothing will work, especially with a dependency. It is my intention to help you by sharing my experiences as well as teaching you how to embrace and honor yourself. In my case, I did a complementation of traditional and alternative medicine treatments that I will share with you throughout this book. As an Energy Healer, I needed to combine the traditional and the alternative for a more natural healing process. I will teach you how to use the Law of Attraction, Akashic Records, Meditation, and exercises and techniques that helped me to achieve what I was looking for. I will show you how we are all surrounded by messages as well as learning to recognize and interpret them. Begin understanding the importance of redirecting the energy that you have been putting into others and begin redirecting it to yourself. Take those negative thoughts that were a primary component of your obsession and trade them in for positive ones to help you achieve a state of mind that will allow you to feel good. Not just for a moment, but for you entire journey. Let’s go back to what I mentioned in this chapter about my personal experience. In my case, I was searching for the unknown. I was in a pretty good place on my journey, but not completely where I wanted to be. It had taken me a long time to realize consciously what I was carrying over from my past. As a child, I always felt that I was never understood. I always looked for acceptance by trying to please others instead of concentrating and pleasing myself first. I did this with my family, with friends, and others along the way. I always justified my behavior as showing love and support, but I started to understand that I was just trying to be accepted or loved in return. I always had that need that I had to be the one to give first. In a way, I was in a position that I was always buying that laugh or I was depending on the acceptance or the reaction of others in order for me to feel good. It is important to come to terms and understand that this emotional dependency is limiting you to achieve a peaceful balance and state of happiness and that YOU are the only one that is responsible to stop it. By Humberto Fortuna MA, MS It is amazing how powerful thoughts can be and how much time and energy we dedicate to the negative ones. Even if you try not to think about negative thoughts, they seem to persist until they get your attention. If you are not prepared and don’t know how to handle them consciously, your thoughts end up in that blender on high speed. Clinically speaking, the two most common diagnoses associated with intrusive thoughts are anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder. By definition, the word, intrusive is when something is causing a disruption or annoyance through being unwelcome or uninvited. In my case, the intrusive thoughts were memories of a lost love. If I refer or relate this situation to the Law of Attraction theory, I was in this mode: “I want it…..I don’t have it” The more you don’t have it, the more you want it I would like to also add that intrusive thoughts can also be a symptom of depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder, or attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). While implementing Cognitive Defusion, it will allow you to begin the process of acceptance and commitment concerning an event that you are going through. It will help you to cope with uncomfortable thoughts and feelings. Cognitive Defusion will allow you to reduce the functions of thoughts by altering the context in which they occur, rather than attempting to alter the form, frequency or situational sensitivity of the thoughts. The most important part of the Cognitive Defusion process, for me, was that it allowed my mind the…… Creation of space between myself and my thoughts and feelings so that they Would have less of a hold over me…. Should we then say….DON’T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU THINK! While incorporating the distancing, disconnecting, or seeing thoughts and feelings for what they are and not what THEY say they are, we need to STOP, STEP BACK, and OBSERVE. Embrace your thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty about them, while allowing and flowing with your being. Allow the flexibility in your mind, with the creation of the space between you and your thoughts, with the incorporation of mindfulness skills, and with the practice of self-acceptance. As I have said before, honor yourself and respect your feelings while putting yourself first, and take over the power of making yourself happy with no resistance. Many times, all it takes is a few brief moments of conscious attention and acceptance for those thoughts and feelings to be released. It is usually when we fight against or resist unwanted thoughts, that they begin spinning without ending…until we say ENOUGH! While embracing your thoughts, allow each thought a little bit of the attention that it is asking for. It is fine to do this and try to slow each thought down, since they will be very repetitive, fast, and overwhelming. Allow them to float, instead of rushing them, without giving those thoughts acknowledgement. In many cases, they have crazy or unrealistic expectations or ideas, they harbor huge fantasies, and they only want to associate with people they think are as cool or as interesting as they are. The sad part of this point is that I have been with a narcissist who introduced me to all his ‘so-called’ talented and important friends, and I was actually sad to see it. The sad part was that he WANTED to be their friend, but I could tell that he was not part of the circle he thought he was in. Narcissists are very superficial. They just care about themselves and themselves alone. They’re very concerned about their appearance and the appearance of people around them. Just think about them like a great FRONT, but there’s nothing behind that front. The reason that you can’t find much behind that front they present, is because they can’t be in touch with their emotions. They don’t regulate their emotions well. They’re very prone to throwing tantrums and getting angry very quickly, especially if they don’t get their way. They are also very hypersensitive to criticism. They are always ready to criticize but cannot take it back. These are some of the key elements we see in a narcissist, but having just one or two of these traits does not make a person a true narcissist. OK? If you are in a relationship with a narcissist, you should expect them to be jealous and a genius in gaslighting. Gaslighting is when they literally make you doubt your own reality and make you feel like you are going crazy. The sad part about these individuals is that they tend to be very loyal and they will argue while getting pleasure from the misery of others. It’s even crazy just to read about it without having the previous conversations that we have been having together in this book. This is why it is important to put everything in context. The first reaction that most people will have will be: NO WAY! HOW CAN YOU ASK ME TO DO THAT? IMPOSSIBLE! As hard as it may be, you need to tell your mind to stop doing something that is no longer giving you pleasure and is just creating anxiety, confusion, and taking you to a state of obsession that is not helping you to achieve the balance and inner peace you need.
