Do Medicare Advantage Plans Pay for Assisted Living Facilities In Florida?

The answer is NO.
Many people believe Medicare Advantage plans will pay for long stays in an Assisted Living Facility in Southeast Florida Broward, Dade or Palm Beach County, but it DOES NOT!
In Florida, there are 627 Medicare Advantage plans available as of 2023 and there is not a single program that pays for Long Term Care or Nursing Home stay.
Medicare Advantage plans must provide the same coverage as Original Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B. These plans also usually offer prescription drug coverage (Part D) and are called Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) plans. Some plans include additional benefits not covered by Original Medicare – such as dental, vision, hearing, and more. BUT NO ONE covers Long Term Care Facilities or Assisted Living Facilities or Alzheimer’s Dementia Memory care units.
Medicare Advantage plans will pay for skilled care Services and Therapy Services, Short term care, but they do not pay for Assisted Living Communities or home for the elderly.
Medicare Advantage plans will give you services and care for a short period of time like a straight Medicare recipient.
After your Short-term rehabilitation stay in a Rehabilitation Center or Skilled Nursing Center, paid by your Medicare Advantage plans, you will be transferred to Home, a Long term Care unit or to an Assisted living Facility or possibly into an Independent Living Community.
